Bristle type
Soft, almost always.
Firm bristles feel like they are doing more, but they wear enamel and push gums back over time. Soft bristles with good technique remove just as much. If your teeth or gums are sensitive, go softer still.

A toothbrush designed to last. Born from curiosity, built with purpose.
Merox, Founder of LOOP
Hi, I'm Merox.
I'm an engineer, and ever since I was a kid, I've been obsessed with the ocean and nature.
When you grow up with that lens, you start noticing something strange: some of the most common objects in our daily lives are just badly designed. Not in how they work, but in how they end.
One of those objects is the toothbrush.
Why was it made to be thrown away entirely, over and over again?
I don't have all the answers. But I knew I wanted to change that.
Every year, over 1 billion toothbrushes are discarded in the U.S. alone, and around 25 billion globally. A massive problem hidden inside a tiny object.
And the craziest part? The solution is simple.
I was first inspired by a toothbrush I bought in Italy in 2018. One I still use today. It wasn't perfect, but it made me question everything.
That single brush sparked an idea that wouldn't go away.
That's how LOOP was born.
The toothbrush from Italy, 2018. Still in use today.
The University of Chicago wrote about how LOOP started and where it’s headed.
Read the articleAt LOOP, we're here to close the loop. Rethink a small everyday habit and turn it into something better.
A toothbrush designed to last.
Designed to feel like yours.
Designed so we stop throwing away the whole thing, every time.
Welcome to LOOP.
Everything you need to know about LOOP.
When you order your LOOP toothbrush, you choose between two plans. With the Quarterly plan, you pay $15 for the handle upfront plus $10 for your first replacement head. Every 3 months after that, a fresh head is delivered to your door for $10. With the Annual plan, you pay $50 once per year for the handle plus 4 heads shipped together. Both plans can be cancelled anytime.
Replacement heads ship on the 21st of every season: March 21, June 21, September 21, and December 21. We consolidate all subscriber shipments into one delivery per season, which reduces our carbon footprint significantly.
Absolutely. You can cancel anytime, no questions asked. Your handle is yours to keep forever. It's built to last. If you cancel, you simply won't receive new replacement heads. You can always re-subscribe later.
Traditional toothbrushes are designed to be thrown away entirely every 3 months. LOOP is different: only the small bristle head gets replaced, which is just 10% of the plastic of a regular toothbrush. The handle is made from premium materials, personalized with your name, and backed by a 10-year warranty.
When your replacement head arrives, you send back the old one using the prepaid return envelope included in every shipment. We collect and recycle all returned heads responsibly. If your handle ever reaches the end of its life, we'll take that back too. That's what closing the loop is all about.
Yes! We offer a full Children's collection with fun, colorful designs. Kids' brushes come in three bristle sizes: Ages 1-4 (extra small), Ages 5-10 (medium), and Ages 11-14 (full). The brush grows with your child while the handle stays the same.
Every LOOP handle comes with a 10-year warranty. If your handle breaks, cracks, or shows defects during normal use, we'll replace it for free. We stand behind the quality of our product because we built it to last.
The engraving is permanent and done during manufacturing, so it can't be changed after your brush is made. Take your time choosing. This toothbrush is going to be with you for a very long time!
We're launching first in the United States with carbon-neutral shipping. International shipping will follow soon. Join the waitlist to be the first to know when we expand to your area.

Built from the start to do less harm. Here's how we hold ourselves accountable.
Every LOOP handle is made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic. Our roadmap includes transitioning to bio-based or nylon-free bristles โ because every component matters.
Our packaging is minimal by design โ FSC-certified paper, zero plastic wrapping, and right-sized boxes to cut waste at every step of the supply chain.
Every brush head you return gets a second life. Used heads and handles are processed back into recycled materials โ closing the loop on every product we ship.
See how it works โAll replacement heads ship on the 21st โ timed with the seasonal equinoxes and solstices โ so every route is fully consolidated and individual trips are minimised. We're also committed to partnering with EV-based last-mile carriers by 2027.
We're working toward becoming a certified 1% for the Planet member โ committing 1% of annual revenue to vetted environmental non-profits. Every LOOP sold will contribute to the planet we're protecting.
B Corp measures a company's full social and environmental impact โ not just what it sells, but how it operates. We're actively working toward meeting the rigorous standards required to certify.
Transparency matters to us.
We want you to be in the LOOP. #BeInTheLOOP

Five moves, twice a day. That is the whole thing.
Point them towards the gum line rather than straight at the tooth. That edge where tooth meets gum is exactly where trouble starts, and it is the spot most people miss.
Short back-and-forth wiggles to loosen things up, then a sweep away from the gum. Outer surfaces first, then the inner ones. Gentle beats hard every time.
Flat back-and-forth strokes across the tops of your molars, where the grooves collect the most.
The forgotten step. A scraper lifts far more than a brush does — and it is where most bad breath actually lives.
Twice a day, between every tooth. Curve the floss around each one and slide it just below the gum line — this is the only part of the routine that reaches where bristles physically cannot.
Most people think they have brushed for two minutes when it has really been about 45 seconds. Split your mouth into four quadrants and give each one 30 seconds.
It wears down enamel and pushes gums back, and neither grows back. If your bristles splay outwards, you are pressing too hard.
Plaque is a sticky film of bacteria that builds up between teeth and just under the gum line — two places bristles simply cannot get to. That is what flossing is for, twice a day.
You produce less saliva while you sleep, so whatever is left on your teeth at bedtime sits there undisturbed for hours.
Every three months — or sooner if the bristles look bent, splayed or flattened. Worn bristles stop reaching where they are meant to, so an old brush works noticeably less well than a new one. It is also worth swapping after you have been ill.
This is why LOOP ships on a rhythm you choose: the head arrives about when the old one stops doing its job, and the handle stays with you.
Brushing is one third of it. LOOP's 3-in-1 system is built around all three, on one handle.
Two minutes, twice a day, soft bristles, 45°.
Your tongue, once a day. The step almost everyone skips.
Twice a day, for the places bristles will never reach.
General guidance, not dental advice. Your dentist knows your mouth — follow them first.
A simple and complete routine is the pillar of great oral health — and it starts with the right brush.
Ignore almost everything on the packaging. It comes down to these.
Soft, almost always.
Firm bristles feel like they are doing more, but they wear enamel and push gums back over time. Soft bristles with good technique remove just as much. If your teeth or gums are sensitive, go softer still.
Smaller than you think.
A compact head turns more easily in your mouth and actually reaches the back molars, which is where brushing tends to fall apart. A big head feels efficient and quietly misses the hardest spots.
Tapered tips reach further.
Rounded tips clean the flat surfaces well. Finer, tapered tips slip further between teeth and just under the gum line — the areas a brush usually leaves behind.
Every three months — or sooner if the bristles look bent, splayed or flattened. A worn brush is measurably worse at cleaning, no matter how good your technique is. Swap it after being ill, too.
On LOOP you replace the head, never the handle. One handle, a fresh head on your own schedule, about 90% less plastic each time.
The brush matters less than how you use it. Two gentle minutes with a soft, small-headed brush beats thirty rushed seconds with anything.
Bristles bending outwards are the clearest signal you have — both that the head is done, and that you may be brushing too hard.
A simple and complete routine is the pillar of great oral health. Both work. With decent technique, a manual brush cleans your teeth perfectly well, and the research is not clear about the gap most people assume is there. It is far less of a decision than it is made out to be.
Where an electric brush genuinely helps:
Where manual holds its own: nothing to charge, nothing to break, no batteries to eventually throw away, and total control over pressure. It also travels without a thought.
LOOP is manual by design. A brush that lasts ten years is hard to build around a motor and a battery — and once the handle is permanent, the only thing you ever replace is the head.
General guidance, not dental advice. Your dentist knows your mouth — follow them first.
Every LOOP product is designed to come back. Here's how we close the loop.
Closing the loop
